Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal starrer Manmarziyaan’s new song DhayaanChand just dropped and it is as quirky as its title and the protagonists on which it is picturized. After F for Fyaar, Daryaa and Grey Wala Shade, DhayaanChand is a peppy and fun number with Taapsee and Vicky. The song is composed by Amit Trivedi and sung by Vijay Yamla, Nikhita Gandhi, Amit Trivedi and Suhas Sawant. The lyrics are penned by Shellee.
DhayaanChand song is something that you’ve never seen in an Anurag Kashyap’s film. The song catches on quickly, mainly due to its hook lines 'Dhyaan kithe, Dhyaan Chand (Where's your attention, Dhyaan Chand)', a play on the hockey legend Dhyan Chand as Taapsee is seen playing hockey in the video of the song and ignoring Vicky’s antics wholeheartedly. The lyrics of the song refers to Taapsee’s character who is distracted, unkempt and lives life on her own terms. However, it is Vicky’s dance steps and devil-may-care-attitude that is so endearing.
Unlike many other Hindi songs where the hero tries hard to woo his lady love and end up looking like a creep and a stalker, Vicky’s histrionics does not make you recoil in disgust. He looks lovable and adorable as he tries hard to pacify his lady-love Taapsee. At one instance in the video, he tries to mimic the signature step of Shashi Kapoor and makes the song funnier.
Vicky and Taapse are the livewires in the song and they equally do justice to the song and guess what, the quirky and funny lyrics actually suit Taapsee. As Abhishek Bachchan said in a recent interview that Anurag Kashyap and love stories don’t go hand-in-hand, so this song is a very pleasant change from the usual gritty songs that we see in his films as its vibrant, colourful, happy and exuberant. Manmarziyaan definitely packs a punch and is ensuring that it keeps the audience hooked.
