You’ve seen Mouni Roy play romantic roles, supernatural characters and in several other shades. But brace yourself for a surprise in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra as Mouni is all set to perform action sequences for the first time in the film, a leading daily reports.
The 32-year-old actress has been cast as the antagonist in Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the principal roles. In order to incorporate stunts and scenes as such in the film, Ranbir and Alia were training under Israeli movement coach Ido Portal as was Mouni. Trainer Kuldeep Shashi, in fact, is helping Mouni to prepare for her role as she will perform combat sequences and gymnastics such as free-wheeling spins, backflips and splits, sources told the leading daily.
"As a villain, Mouni is expected to be lithe, agile and fast-footed. She has been training in free-running and gymnastics with Kuldeep since January, and has also been working on her flexibility,” the daily quoted the source as saying.
Mouni, in the meantime, also spoke to the daily about her training session and said, “We didn't train in a particular form of martial arts, but in routines that can make us equipped to perform all kinds of action. I guess you could label our training as one that makes me a Jack of all trades.”

The actress, also, isn’t worried about the fact that she will be playing a negative role in Brahmastra as she said, "I have been acting for nine years [in television], so it's not that early. Also, I love stories. I like intriguing parts, so, if something excites me, I will do it."
Brahmastra co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and is scheduled to release in 2019.
Mouni made her debut in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar’s Gold. Apart from Brahmastra, she will also appear in RAW and Made In China.
Before films, Mouni appeared in television shows including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasturi and Naagin and also participated in the reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 and Lip Sing Battle.
