Bharat: Jackie Shroff to feature as Salman Khan's father, confirms Ali Abbas Zafar

Ali Abbas Zafar is all geared up for his next film, a period-drama titled Bharat starring Salman Khan in the principal role. After wrapping the first schedule in Mumbai, the film's team recently concluded the second schedule in the picturesque locales of Malta. Next up, the cast and crew of Bharat will be heading to Abu Dhabi for the film's next schedule. What's more, they will be joined by actor Jackie Shroff in the upcoming schedule as the actor is all set to play Salman's father in the film.

Confirming that Jackie is on-board for Bharat, Ali revealed to a leading daily, "We met Jaggu dada in London and discussed dates and looks. I have wanted to work with him for a long time as I feel he is the perfect amalgamation of a star and an actor. I was glad when he agreed to do the film in just 20 minutes of the narration."

Apparently, the team of Bharat will shoot both action and romantic scenes in Abu Dhabi over the span of two weeks.

Meanwhile, Salman will be sporting five different looks spanning 60 years, wherein a crucial part will showcase the actor in his late 20s, looking much leaner and younger. Thus, it would be interesting to see Jackie play his father on screen as the two actors are all set to reunite after a hiatus of eight years post starring in Veer (2010).

Also featuring Katrina Kaif, Sunil Grover, Tabu, Disha Patani and Aasif Sheikh, the film is the official remake of South Korean film Ode To My Father. It is said to be a story of a man who gets separated from his family during the war and depicts the journey of how he reunites with them.

Produced by Atul Agnihotri and T-Series, Bharat is slated to release on Eid 2019.
