Batti Gul Meter Chalu: Shahid Kapoor gifts his gym equipments to Tehri hotel

Actor Shahid Kapoor whose last film Padmaavat was a hit at the box-office, is all geared up for his next release Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is a social drama that talks about issues like high electricity bills in small towns.

The film, also featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam, has been shot in the picturesque town of Tehri in Uttarakhand. While shooting in the quaint town, the film's cast had to stay at a hotel with bare necessities and no luxuries, instead of a five-star hotel. But Shahid, being a fitness freak, had set up his gym at the hotel. Now we hear that Shahid in fact gifted his makeshift gym to the Tehri hotel after the film's schedule was wrapped.

A source revealed to us, "As this small hotel had no fitness facilities, he set up his own gym on the premises. His instructor had taken a lot of expensive equipment from Mumbai and set them up in a room. Besides Shahid, other actors and crew members also made good use of this gym. A day before they packed up, the hotel guys requested Shahid to leave his gym equipment behind for them and other guests and he agreed instantly knowing his gift would help the establishment."

Interestingly, Shahid and the other team members often would go for fishing in-between breaks from work as there were minimal sources of recreation in the small town.

Meanwhile, talking about his character in the film, Shahid had earlier revealed to a leading daily, "I’m a kapti (unscrupulous) lawyer who is only interested in making moolah. Most often, he’s only interested in doing out-of-court settlements and earning a quick buck. Then something happens to his friend and he realizes that he should do something about the problem that is being faced by many. Then, I become a conscientious guy who decides to fight for people."

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is slated to release on September 21.
