Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after he complained of uneasiness due to a chest infection. The news of his illness was posted on is official Twitter handle and fans were duly informed that the veteran actor is not serious and is recuperating from the illness.
Kumar's wife Saira Banu said in a statement regarding her husband's health, "We are here at Lilavati and we come here for a routine check-up regularly. He will be here for a few days, as long as the doctors want to do tests. All kinds of tests will be conducted. There is a team of doctors here, chest physician, neurologist. The tests are being conducted under Dr. Nitin Gokhale. We need your wishes so we can go home soon."

Ajaykumar Pandey, Vice President, Lilavati Hospital, told a leading daily that the actor was admitted to the hospital Wednesday afternoon. He told the daily, "He (Dilip Kumar) has just come for a routine check-up and there is nothing to worry about. He is keeping well. It is difficult to say how long he will stay in the hospital."
The veteran actor is 95-years-old and is a Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner. In August 2017, Kumar was admitted to the hospital due to dehydration and fever. He was kept under observation for a few days at that time due to discrepancies found in the functioning of his kidneys. In the past few years, the popular and well-loved actor has been admitted to the hospital several times, owing to age-related illness. In fact, in 2016 the actor was admitted to the hospital twice and even celebrated his birthday there on December 11.
Kumar is one of the most popular and legendary actors. Many veterans like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Dharmendra look up to him and hold him as the reason for them becoming actors or taking up the profession. Kumar made his debut in the year 1944 with the film Jwar Bhata. He is popularly known as Tragedy King and The First Khan. In a career spanning over six decades, Kumar worked in over 65 films. His most popular films have been Andaz, Babul, Deedar, Aan, Daag, Devdas, Azaad, Naya Daur, Yahudi, Madhumati, Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam, Shakti, Karma, Saudagar. His last film role was in the film Qila which released in 1998. He was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
