Jalebi’s upside-down kiss poster spur a sea of memes on social media, see them all here

Bollywood might be the biggest film industry in the world but it is not well-known for originality. When veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films shared the first poster of their upcoming film Jalebi featuring Rhea Chakraborty and debutant Varun Mitra, little did they prophesied that it will spur a sea of memes on social media. The filmmakers have also been called out for copying a famous photograph clicked during the Korean War and using it for their poster.

Soon after the poster was shared online on September 3, it received a lot of flak and backlash on Twitter as many felt it was a direct rip-off of an iconic shot called the Korean War Goodbye Kiss, clicked in Los Angeles in 1950, captured by the Los Angeles Times, photographer Frank Brown. The inspired Jalebi poster, though, has the girl leaning out of the window for the embrace.

. The only change that is there is that the Jalebi poster reverses the order; while the original had a soldier bending down from his train coach and held by his fellow soldiers kisses his wife, the film poster has Rhea bending down and kissing Varun.

Jalebi poster has definitely given the hyperactive and imaginative netizens fodder for new memes and we totally love it.

Jalebi releases on October 12. The film also marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Digangana Suryavanshi, who has starred in TV shows like Qubool Hai, Veera and reality show Bigg Boss.
