Jackky Bhagnani’s new film Mitron includes a reworked version of the 1972 song Chalte Chalte and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who provided vocals to the original song, certainly isn’t impressed with it. The actor, however, while speaking to a leading daily, said that Chalte Chalte 2.0 doesn’t intend to ruin the sanctity of the song but has been recreated for the young generation.
In fact, a fan of the actor in Coimbatore also praised the new version, Jackky said, adding that he had not even heard the original version.
"The song is moving with time. When I visited Coimbatore recently, a fan complimented me on the track. He had never heard the original. We are not ruining the sanctity of the song,” Jackky told the daily.

Chalte Chalte 2.0 has vocals by Atif Aslam while the composition is credited to Tanishk Bagchi. Lata Mangeshkar, on Tuesday, said that she isn’t interested in listening to the song. Jackky, in the meantime, told the daily that he would request the singer to listen to the new version, at least once.
"If Lataji has commented about the song, she must be correct. She's amused at why songs are being remixed so often these days. But I would urge ma'am to listen to the song once,” Jackky added.
In an angry response to the new song, Lata Mangeshkar had expressed severe dissent as she said that she is “saddened” by the art of recreating old songs as she believes that it doesn’t depict creativity.
Mitron features television actress Kritika Kamra opposite Jackky. The film is based on the journey of the lead characters trying to rediscovering themselves amidst their social and cultural backgrounds. It will release on September 14.
