After delivering blockbusters with his father, filmmaker David Dhawan’s films Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan is all set to collaborate with him and elder brother, filmmaker Rohit in launching their own production banner, a leading daily reports. The 31-year-old actor will be teaming up with his father to revive the No 1 series, expected to begin filming in 2019, while this project will be the first production under their banner.
Sources told the daily that the Dhawans have started planning their home banner and the first film under their production will be a commercial action-comedy.
“It’s a family banner that they plan to launch and is in the initial stages of planning. It will be headed by David and the first film will be a commercial action-comedy. Since their previous collaborations did well at the box office, the family felt it’s the right time for the venture,” a source close to the Dhawans told the daily.

Varun’s films with his father have not only performed well at the box office but also fared well through satellite and music rights. The source, thus, opined that the Dhawans will only end up benefitting from their association.
“Varun’s films have been getting a good recovery on satellite and music rights, with the television premiere of Judwaa 2 setting new records. He’s one of the most saleable actors today and a big draw at the box office so it’s a win-win situation for the Dhawans,” the source added.
Varun, in the meantime, is juggling a busy schedule as he is currently filming Kalank, co-starring Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur. After Kalank, Varun will begin work on Remo D’souza’s dance film with Katrina Kaif in December.
Not that Varun will get time to breathe after the aforementioned films as he is expected to start working on Shashank Khaitan’s Rannbhoomi and his film with David Dhawan is there too.
At the moment, Varun is gearing up for the release of his new film Sui Dhaaga with Anushka Sharma, scheduled to release on September 28.
