Southern sensation Allu Arjun was last seen in Naa Peru Surya which did commendable business at the box office. One of the most popular and young stars, Allu has been prepping up for his next film with filmmaker Vikram K Kumar and is also looking forward to his Tamil debut in Linguswamy’s directorial venture. However, what has piqued our interest is the rumour that the actor is all set to star in his first Bollywood film, that too alongside Ranveer Singh in his forthcoming sports film ’83.
’83 is supposed to be a biopic on Kapil Dev and is based on the first Cricket World Cup win by the Indian team way back in 1983. The Indian team was led by Kapil and they triumphed over the clear favourites and defending champions West Indies. The film is directed by Kabir Khan and a leading entertainment portal reported that Allu will be making his Bollywood debut with the film. Reportedly, he has been roped in to play the role of flamboyant batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth in the film.

Ranveer who is gung-ho about playing the role of the iconic and legendary cricketer and probably India’s best all-rounder reportedly had said, “I was born at the time when cricket was big time. When Kabir Sahab (director Kabir Khan) had come to me and said that there will be a film on 83, I was like finally. And when he was narrating it to me, I was like wooh. It is not a story just about cricket but a human story.”
The film is supposed to go on floors by the end of 2018 and is slated to release in April 2020. Ranveer is getting special training for ’83 and that too from Kapil himself. With Allu joining in, this film definitely looks as if it’s going to be a cherry on top.
