But Salman clarified he holds no grudges against her. He mentioned, "It's just that the project got stuck. Had we known earlier we could have worked it out better." Director Ali Abbas Zafar's tweet about her exiting the project suggested that the reason was her engagement to American singer Nick Jonas. Salman added, "She was getting engaged and I told her, 'If you are getting engaged, what's the need of exiting the project?' Then she said, 'Shaadi karni hai', to which I said, 'Toh shaadi kar lo'. Shaadi ke liye chaar din ka preparation, aur chaar din ki shaadi... So, we said we will work it out. But she was very clear that she didn't want to be a part of the film."

Soon after the exit from Bharat, which was supposed to be Priyanka's comeback film in Bollywood, she signed another Hollywood film titled Cowboy Ninja Viking alongside Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt.
Salman concluded, "Not doing this had to be because of the wedding or because she doesn't want to work with me anymore. It could be because she doesn't want to work in our industry or wants to work in Hollywood. Whatever she wants to do, I wish her all the best in life."
On the other hand, Salman also revealed that Katrina was Atul Agnihotri's (producer and brother-in-law) and sister Alvira Khan's first choice for Bharat.
