Priyanka Chopra recently got engaged to American singer-actor Nick Jonas with a beautiful roka ceremony in India. While her fans, colleagues, and well-wishers are ecstatic and happy for PeeCee there have been a few who have tried to troll her for being in a relationship with a much younger man. However, since love knows no boundaries the happy couple chose to flaunt their relationship to the world and since their engagement has been making several public appearances together looking like a million-dollars and oh-so-in-love. Popular filmmaker Karan Johar gave his thumbs up to the couple and quipped that who made the rule that the man should be older than the woman in the relationship.
During an interview on the show Off Centre, Karan was quizzed about his take on Priyanka and Nick’s relationship and the fact that she is older to him. The filmmaker was quick to respond with, “Relationship should not be about it. I am very liberal and progressive among these things. I have never thought, 'Oh, your man should be older than you.' Why? Why should we say these things? If you find compatibility and you find a relationship of comfort, who cares who's older than who."
He further said, “Who made these rules that the man should be older? Like sometimes I have heard members of my family say things like this. Sometimes, I feel that's the saving grace of the relationship. Sometimes the maturity that a woman brings to the table, I think it can actually make sure that the relationship has a strong binding. So, I really don't buy all these things, it doesn't make sense to me."
There are several Bollywood couples where the man is much older to his wife but nobody even bats an eyelid but in Priyanka’s case the trolls have been out with a hatchet bringing out the worst possible logic to quell the excitement of the newly-engaged couple. Fortunately, Karan has lent his support to the actress and defended her choice and love too.
