It has been a long time since we saw Imran Khan on the silver screen. He was last seen in the 2015 romcom Katti Batti opposite Kangana Ranaut. However, now the actor is back in action albeit this time he has turned to direction instead of acting. His first film is a short ambitious project called Mission Mars: Keep Walking India. The film is based on India’s achievement of sending a spacecraft to the red planet Mars on September 24, 2014. It is a tribute to India’s successful Mars Orbiter Mission.
The short film is produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Productions banner. It stars Abhishek Saha, Prakash Belawadi and Sonali Sachdev in the lead roles. Mission Mars: Keep Walking India will be a part of Johnnie Walker The Journey campaign. The short film will premiere online on September 20.
At a time when Bollywood is busy churning out biopics on questionable characters with criminal past here is Imran who has been brave enough to bring India’s achievement to celluloid for the common people to see. How we wish that this could have been a full-length feature film instead of a short film. However, at least this can be taken as winds of change and hopefully, filmmakers, as well as the public, will get interested in such topics.
