Janhvi Kapoor received immense love and appreciation from critics and audience alike after her debut film Dhadak. Soon after its release, the 21-year old was roped in for Karan Johar’s magnum opus Takht. Moreover, even before her second film went on floors, speculations were rife that she has given her nod to play the role of the first woman IAF Chopper Pilot Gunjan Saxena in a film, which will be bankrolled by KJo’s Dharma Productions.
Now if a recent report in a leading daily is to be believed, the young actress has already begin her prep for the challenging role. A source from the film revealed to the daily, "Janhvi has already begun her prep and has met Gunjan to understand her story and observe her mannerisms. The film is expected to go on the floors sometime next year. While Karan is producing the film, a director is yet to be finalised."
While there has been no official confirmation from either Janhvi or Karan, a photo started doing the rounds earlier this month, in which Janhvi could be seen spending time with the pilot. The picture was enough to trigger rumours that Janhvi is indeed signed for the role.
For the unversed, Gunjan Saxena was one of the first Indian women to fly a chopper during the evacuation process of injured Indian soldiers from Kargil in 1999. Despite being unarmed and defenseless, Gunjan along with flight lieutenant Srividya Rajan, continued flying in and out of the danger zone and rescued the soldiers.
Well, if it all goes well, it would be interesting to see Janhvi step into Gunjan's shoes on the celluloid.
