Akshay Kumar, in his career spanning over almost two decades, has not just impressed fans with his films but his notable deeds for the society as well. From supporting issues like women’s empowerment to providing aid to the farmers and soldiers in the country, the actor has always championed causes that aim at uplifting the society. Akshay has yet again proved that he has a heart of gold by offering financial help of Rs 5 lakh to acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

For the unversed, Laxmi had recently opened up to a leading daily that despite receiving several awards and accolades, she was struggling to make ends meet. She had also revealed that she has a three-year-old daughter and a mother to take care of, and thus was hunting for a job and a house due to her inability to pay the high rent. After learning about her story, Akshay transferred money to her.

Speaking about it, Akshay told the daily, "My contribution is a very small gesture. I am embarrassed to even mention it. The idea is that Laxmi should be able to search for a job with dignity, without having to worry about paying house rent or stressing about not being able to provide a nutritious meal to her baby." He also added that it is important to support people through practical means and medals, awards and certificates don’t help in paying the bills.

Meanwhile, Laxmi, as well, expressed that she is overwhelmed with the response she's been getting. "I can’t express how I feel... my daughter and I are not alone. I have got more than 200 calls since yesterday. Many have written to me on social media, wanting to send help," she added.
