Aayush Sharma, who is all set to make his debut in Bollywood with Loveyatri, addressed the controversy over the title of the film and in an interview with a news agency, said that the objection over it was unnecessary. Loveyatri was earlier titled Loveratri but its name was changed after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) claimed that the original name distorted the Hindu festival Navratri.
In fact, a court in Bihar had ordered an FIR to be lodged against producer Salman Khan on account of its claim that the title hurt religious sentiments and promoted vulgarity. Following the commotion, Salman announced the change in the name of the film last week.
“Our intention was very clear. We wanted a film that connects with most people. There was unnecessary conversation and objection happening over it. The film will not hurt anyone’s sentiments. There is not one double meaning dialogue in the film, it only talks about culture. Something or some elements had a problem. I don’t want to win the box office with a controversy,” Aayush told the agency.
Moreover, Aayush said that the controversy will not work in his favour because he isn’t seeking publicity in any way through this. “I don’t think getting controversy or adding tension would have worked in my favour. I am not publicity hungry. I have enough publicity through the film. I don’t need unnecessary attention and I don’t want anybody else to get the attention, so if you have a problem, we will change it (title). So, we gave up on the title and it is ok,” Aayush added.
Loveyatri co-stars newcomer Warina Hussain opposite Aayush. The film will release on October 5.
