Sanya Malhotra who started her Bollywood career essaying the role of wrestler Babita Kumari Phogat in Nitesh Tiwari’s film Dangal opposite Aamir Khan is all set to return to the silver screen with Vishal Bharadwaj's Pataakha and Badhaai Ho opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Apparently, the actress had her goals set to wait patiently for the best film and not to chase after stardom. In a recent media interaction, she said about the advice she received from Aamir about going slow with the choice of films and not to do more than two films a year.
“Going slow in my career makes me happy. Aamir used to tell me and Fatima 'don't do more than two films a year'. However, I did three films a year! When he got to know I signed all these, he said 'you're doing so many movies!'," shared the actress, who is returning to the screen after the haitus of two years.
She was asked whether she takes Aamir’s guidance on projects and Sanya replied, “I don't discuss scripts with him, but I text him whenever I feel that I have achieved something. We have a Whatsapp group that includes Nitesh (Tiwari) sir and Kiran (Rao) ma'am, and we keep posting things there. In fact, Nitesh sir jokes that Aamir sir doesn't do as many films as I have done in two years."
Besides, Pataakha and Badhaai Ho, Sanya will also be seen in Ritesh Batra's Photograph featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Pataakha is based on Charan Singh Pathik's short story Do Behnein which is based on two warring sisters. Besides Sanya, the film also stars Radhika Madan and is helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
