Superstar Salman Khan is as flamboyant in real life as he comes across on screen. He makes light of every situation and manages to give a straightforward and often a jocular answer to every question he is posed. In a recent media interaction at his residence, Galaxy Apartments ahead of his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma's Loveyatri, produced under Salman Khan Films, the actor spoke about the early days of his career and how even he had to go and visit producers and directors to ask for work.
During the interaction, Salman was asked about his first film as a leading hero, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which released alongside David Dhawan’s film Aag Ka Gola starring Sunny Deol. Not many know, but Salman had approached David before MPK released, to ask for work, and the response he got, will leave you in splits.

"I had a friend Rajeev. I used to call him Mithun because he looked like him. Now I think he is running action classes. We went on a bike to Minerva and I clearly remember we reached there a little after the film had started and during the interval, somebody recognized me. I had to run away from there. When we left, people were following us and his motorcycle also wasn’t starting. It was almost like the Hello Brother scene. When we somehow came from there, he was really happy for me and said it was his happiest moment. We then went to Satyam Shivam Sundaram. David’s film had released. I had gone to him at one point of time to ask for work. I had an accident at that time. I was full of bandages and my shoulder bones came out. He got scared of me. David said he didn’t have any work either so he can’t help me. His words were, ‘Mere pass khud ke pass kaam nahi hai toh tumko kaise doon’. I saw him there and he clearly thought ‘Ki is bechare ka kya hoga, sirf 18 print hai iske!' I think Sunny ki picture release hui thi. Sunny Deol was there in David’s film. That film was playing along with mine. I had seen the reaction in Minerva so I was worried about the reaction here. When I opened the door, I got the same reaction (people followed me) *laughs*. But it’s not only about that film. I am one of the lucky ones who gives a flop even after Rs 100-crore club. I told Aayush the film is made in Rs 117 crores so he got pressurized what if the film tanks (jokingly)," shared Salman.
Now isn’t that interesting to know that Salman who comes from a film family and whose father was a well-established screenwriter of repute he had to go around the industry asking for work? This clearly shows that even though there might be inherent nepotism in Bollywood but eventually you have to prove yourself to get work in the industry as nothing comes on a silver platter. Salman and David worked in many successful films like Chal Mere Bhai, Biwi No 1, Partner, Judwa etc.
On the other hand, Aayush's Loveyatri is releasing on October 5 on the silver screen.
