A trade source revealed, "The satellite rights have apparently been sold at a whopping sum to Sony Pictures. Plus, Shah Rukh's standing collaboration with Netflix has helped him bag a lucrative deal with the streaming giant for the film's digital rights."
The buzz also suggested that the film has generated a lot of interest amongst the audience and VFX-market alike. Making Khan look like a vertically-challenged man is a fresh idea, and yet, a very difficult task at the hand of the visuals.
Apart from this, director Anand L Rai has a goodwill at the Box Office garners. So, the sky could be the limit for an all-rounder film like Zero. Besides, as a trade analyst further pointed out, "A large part of the money will be recovered through digital rights and music. Also, if you air the film on television first, the channels are often willing to pay significantly higher. Plus, Shah Rukh never charges acting fee; that's how he controls the budget of his films."
Zero, directed by Aanand L Rai, also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles and will release on December 21.
