The entire film industry is walking on tenterhooks now that the #MeToo movement in India has gathered steam. It all started when Tanushree Dutta was brave enough to accuse Nana Patekar of sexual harassment and did not chicken out of standing her ground.
Many celebrities came forward to lend support to the survivors and the victims. Noted lyricist Varun Grover also lent his voice to the movement but was taken aback when he too was named as a sexual offender and perpetrator. Author Harnidh Kaur took to her Twitter account to share the screenshots of the victim’s accusation on Grover.

However, now Varun has issued a statement on his social media accounts refuting the claims. He wrote that the claims were “completely fabricated, misleading, and defamatory allegations”. Varun who has spoken supporting the #MeToo movement has asked not to allow “such agenda-driven tactics to derail this movement.”

Varun’s statement is pretty lucid and clear and also proves the point that even a good movement can be taken out of context and used by people to fuel their own revenge and vendetta. However, keeping our minds open let’s not jump to conclusions and wait for more deets to come out for this if indeed this was a true incident.
