Vikas Bahl dropped from Kabir Khan’s ’83 starring Ranveer due to sexual harassment charges

Filmmaker Vikas Bahl’s troubles are not getting over anytime soon. The director has been accused by a former woman employee at Phantom Films of sexually assaulting her. The repercussions of the accusations were such that Phantom Films was dissolved and Anurag Kashyap, Madhu Mantena and Vikramaditya Motwane issued statements and decided to go their separate ways. Now, Vikas who was stripped off signatory rights from the production house will no longer be associated with Kabir Khan’s ’83. He was on board as one of the producers.

Vikas has been dropped from any further associations with the Ranveer Singh starrer that chronicles India’s maiden World Cup win that was led by Kapil Dev. Kabir confirmed the news about Vikas being dropped from the project. He said, “ Vikas Bahl will not have any credit on '83." It was rumoured that Kabir’s directorial venture would inevitably be postponed. However, co-producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri refuted this.

He asserted that the film was being made under a tripartite agreement and was funded by Reliance Entertainment. Induri said that the film will not see a roadblock due to financial constraints. He further added, “Reliance is on board this project. Along with the support of an experienced production house like mine, and with Kabir Khan (director) managing the film, things are (in control). Phantom's internal issues will not affect it. The film will roll as per schedule. We start shooting in India in December, which will be followed by a schedule in London from March to April next year."

On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan who is playing the male lead in Vikas directed film Super 30 issued a statement in which he said that he would not like to work with anyone who is accused of such grave misconduct and urged the producers to take a harsh stand on the issue.
