Anil Kapoor has applauded the #MeToo movement that has encompassed India ever since Tanushree Dutta accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her in 2008 while the Fanney Khan actor described the movement as “fantastic”.
While speaking to a news agency, Anil said that the world should listen to all that women are expressing on Twitter. Over the past few weeks, several women outed filmmakers and actors as alleged sexual predators. So far, Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl and Rajat Kapoor have been accused of sexual harassment.
“I have three women in my house & they're fiercely independent. I'm a listener and I think world should also be a listener and listen to whatever they have to say. For me, girls are superior in every aspect and I have said that always. What is happening is fantastic,” he told the agency.
Anil is married to designer Sunita Bhavnani since 1984 and they parent three children – Rhea, Sonam and Harshvardhan.
Apart from Anil, several other A-list stars including Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan expressed their opinion on the #MeToo movement while Akshay Kumar, in fact, cancelled the shoot for his upcoming film Housefull 4 on Friday after its director Sajid Khan was accused of sexual harassment.
