Ajay Devgn’s ambitious project Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior has been generating a lot of buzz ever since its announcement. What's more, the film will reunite Ajay and his Omkara co-star Saif Ali Khan after a hiatus of 12 years. Now with the audience looking forward to see the two actors carve their magic again, Saif recently opened up on the Taanaji biopic and revealed interesting details about his character during an interview with a leading daily.
Stating that he respects Ajay and the way he looks at life, Saif added, "I’m happy to be a part of this huge historical which will be a screen extravaganza, a post-Baahubali kind of experience in 3D. Ajay loves cinema, is a great producer, and this is the right film to make today as it highlights patriotism and heroism." Further talking about his character in the film, the Sacred Games actor pointed out, "Let’s just call him an anti-hero. It’s a cool part and I’ve have already started shooting."
For the unversed, Saif will be portraying the role of Udaybhan Rathod in Taanaji, a Rajput officer appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Mughal army under Aurangzeb to take care of the fort. On the other hand, Ajay will play the titular role of Subedar Taanaji Malusare, a military leader in the army of Shivaji and the founder of the Maratha Empire in 17th century India. Well, it would be interesting to see Saif and Ajay battle it out in the much-anticipated film.
Directed by Om Raut and produced by T-series honcho Bhushan Kumar, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior is based on the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 and is slated to hit the theaters on November 22, 2019.
