Saif Ali Khan’s response to a question about his daughter Sara Ali Khan’s safety in the film industry was cutting enough as he addressed the subject of toxic work environments in the midst of the #MeToo movement in India. While speaking to a leading daily, Saif said that if any mortal attempts to harass Sara, he will take him to court without thinking twice. Sara was expected to make her debut with Kedarnath in Bollywood but considering the fact that clarity on its release date is yet to be observed, she will appear in Rohit Shetty’s December release Simmba first.
So, moral of the story is – do not mess with Sara. Why? Because – “If someone asks my daughter to come see him at Madh Island, I will go with her and punch that man in the face. If she tells me that this guy said this to me, he will then be fighting me in court. I am sorry, but that's my reaction to it. He wouldn't dare to do it again. Every girl should have that kind of security,” Saif told the daily.
Sara, 25, is Saif’s first child with former wife, actress Amrita Singh. Questions on the lines of safety at workplace emerged in the backdrop of the #MeToo movement that has encompassed the country since the last month.
The #MeToo movement in India was escalated by Tanushree Dutta’s accusation of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar where several women outed filmmakers and actors as well as alleged sexual predators. So far, Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl and Rajat Kapoor have also been accused of sexual harassment.
Saif, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of his new film Baazaar. Directed by Gauravv K Chawla, Baazaar will release on October 26.
