In response to Ira Trivedi’s harassment allegations, Chetan Bhagat tweets image of her email

Chetan Bhagat has responded to author Ira Trivedi’s allegation of sexual harassment against him as he shared a screenshot of an email purportedly sent to him by her in which she signed off as “Miss u kiss u”.

“So who wanted to kiss whom?” Bhagat wrote in his tweet of the “self-explanatory email” from 2013, adding that the screenshot is enough to prove that Ira’s claims from 2010 are “false”. Moreover, Bhagat also said that her family apart from him is being ‘mentally harassed’ and it has to stop.

Over the weekend, Ira, in a column for a leading magazine, narrated her story as she called out Bhagat and Suhel Seth. She accused Bhagat of misbehaving with her as he allegedly “forcibly tried to kiss her”, adding that he “groped” her friend as well on a moving bus abroad.

Furthermore, Bhagat condemned Ira’s “attack” as fake and censured Ira apart from asking his followers to refrain from supporting “this smear campaign”. For those unaware of the context here, Bhagat was referring to the #MeToo movement that has encompassed the country since the last month.

Last week, Bhagat also said that he was "attacked and vilified” after screenshots of his WhatsApp conversations were leaked on social media.

Bhagat is best known for his books Five Point Someone and The 3 Mistakes Of My Life.

The #MeToo movement in India was escalated by Tanushree Dutta’s accusation of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar where several women outed filmmakers and actors as well as alleged sexual predators. So far, Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl and Rajat Kapoor have also been accused of sexual harassment.
