Acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal is ecstatic about the fact that Deepika Padukone is playing her role in her biopic that will be made by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. In an interview with a leading website, Laxmi said that she is sure that the 32-year-old actress will give her best shot in the film since she has portrayed brilliant characters on celluloid.
“I believe art is art. I am so happy that Deepika is playing the role. I have no right to judge her. How can I judge someone for something which I can’t do? She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best,” Laxmi told the website.

Last week, Deepika told a leading daily that she was “deeply moved” by Laxmi’s story and will not just star in the biopic but produce it as well. Laxmi, during her interview, thanked Deepika and Meghna for making the film as she opined that it will spread awareness and enable survivors to put up a brave front while fighting their trauma.
“I want to thank Deepika ji, Meghna ji and the entire team who will be working together on the film. I am glad that the movie will spread awareness and will help people who are victims of such incidents to come out of it. They will get inspired that if she can do it then why not us,” Laxmi added.

As far as the biopic is concerned, PeepingMoon had informed in September itself that Deepika will be playing the role of Laxmi in Meghna’s film. While confirming the news to the daily, Deepika had also said that Laxmi’s story was “not just one of violence but of strength and courage, hope and victory”.
Laxmi, now 29, survived a horrific acid attack in New Delhi in 2005 as she was attacked by a man whose proposal she had rejected.
Deepika was last seen onscreen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s January release Padmaavat.
