#MeToo: Mumbai court objects to Alok Nath's absence, says he is the main person

Writer-producer Vinta Nanda filed a police complaint against veteran actor Alok Nath in Mumbai on Wednesday for allegedly sexually harassing her around 20 years ago. She also informed the media that her statement will be recorded soon and further expressed faith in the police and judiciary. Now as per a report in a leading daily, a Mumbai court on October 17 didn't pass an interim order and allowed Vinta to use social media to comment on her ordeal and point out allegations against the actor.

The report further stated that while hearing Alok Nath's defamation suit, the court asked his lawyers to make certain amendments since it had some technical errors. Moreover, when the lawyers asked for Alok's exemption to be present in the court, the defence and the court objected it by stating that he is the main person and needs to be present. Furthermore, the court ordered him to be present in the next hearing, which will be held on October 25.

For the unversed, Vinta had accused Alok of rape as she narrated her horrifying ordeal in a Facebook post. However, while lodging her complaint, she said that it wasn't easy to recount minute details of the entire event, which took place almost two decades ago.

On the other hand, Alok not only stated in his reply to CINTAA that Vinta's accusations were "false and fabricated" but completely refused to acknowledge a notice issued to him by the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA). Earlier, the actor had filed a Rs. 1 defamation case against Vinta while his wife Ashu Nath had also moved to a court seeking a police probe into the allegations against her husband.
