Fear trial by Twitter, says Farah Khan after sexual harassment allegations against brother Sajid

Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan spoke about the #MeToo movement that has encompassed the nation since the past month and said that she is afraid of the “quick judgments and the quick punishments that are meted out through trial by Twitter”. While addressing the media at an event in Mumbai on Wednesday, Farah stressed the need for “investigation” but she refused to elaborate on it further.

“I am against fear psychosis for anybody whether it is for a woman or for a man who is talking to a girl and getting scared that should I be talking like this. We want to have to have a happy positive environment, so that is most important. The only thing I fear are the quick judgments and the quick punishments that are meted out through trial by Twitter which is happening in hours," Farah was quoted as saying by a leading website.

Farah, however, did not comment on the allegations of sexual harassment made against her brother, filmmaker Sajid Khan - her response, though, is after the accusations. Last week, actress Saloni Chopra accused Sajid of behaving inappropriately with her while she was working with him. Apart from Saloni, a senior journalist had also revealed that the filmmaker had “exposed himself and forcefully kissed her” during an interview.

"Even in Hollywood they take their time, they do their research, they do an investigation. They interview friends and family, whether it is 20 years ago or 10 years go- they investigate. So that is a bit scary for everybody," Farah said at the event.

Farah, however, had issued a statement on Twitter after allegations against Sajid surfaced, saying that she doesn’t “endorse this behavior” and assured support to the women who have been “hurt”.

Sajid, in fact, had also announced his decision of “stepping down” as the director of the upcoming film Housefull 4. Following his resignation, production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment announced that the film will be directed by Farhad Samji, who previously directed Housefull 3.
