It is not a lesser known fact that Arjun Kapoor and sister Anshula shared a rather arduous relationship with their half-sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor until Sridevi passed away earlier this year. Since the veteran actress’ death, however, Arjun, Anshula, Khushi and Janhvi developed a close bond and also stood by each other.
During an interview with Arjun, the actor spoke about his relationship with Jahnvi and Khushi and shared his pain and grief that he had gone through in the past, on the loss of his mother Mona Kapoor in 2012. He also revealed that he has discovered a new family at the age of 33.
“What happened shouldn’t happen to anybody because I have gone through it. Your backbone breaks, you snap, you collapse and you don’t even understand what happened. It takes you years to pick up the pieces. So I have been in that position and I am still picking up the pieces. Every morning when I wake up, I had to make changes from my mom’s room, it takes a long time so I wouldn’t wish it for my worst enemy. I thought my mother is in the room, I really missed her at that moment and she would have wanted to me to be a good son and I did. I didn’t think anymore. I asked my sister, I asked my maasi and they said you must go and be a good son,” he said.

“Eight months later today, I have just been somebody who stood by them in the time of need. I didn’t think so far. When life has moved ahead and there is a bit of time to understand stuffs, there is a realization that this is now the rest of our lives. It is unfortunate that this situation has brought us together and not only 4-5 of us but our entire family also but in that adversity, we have all come to appreciate that how short life is and how we have to fill it with love and time for each other. My priorities have changed in life. I have to admit that I am very lucky to discover two wonderful girls whom my sister has allowed me to call sisters. It takes a lot out of a girl for another girl and they are nice kids and they are still young. They will get better with time and they will have their own highs and lows to experience. I just wanted to be a support system for them because I needed it when it happened to me. It wasn’t easy for me to explain to anybody at that point in time. I just went about it, I didn’t think in a wrong way, I just chose work,” he further added.

Arjun also confessed that he occupied himself with films a few years ago so that he could come out of his pain. He said, “If you notice during Aurangzeb, Gunday, 2 States, Finding Fanny, Tevar, I signed six films back to back and I just put my head down and worked. I don’t think that was the solution. I am here because of that work so it was meant to be but I don’t think I solved everything. I want them (Janhvi and Khushi) to have a normal life and be able to tackle it rather than hiding from the situation. They are on the way and I am hoping that the way our relationships and equations are evolving, me and Anshula can be there with them. I am very lucky to choose my family at the age of 33.”
