Bhushan Kumar's ambitious project Mogul, a biopic on the life of his father Gulshan Kumar, has already gone through a lot of upheavals. Amidst the raging #MeToo movement in India, Aamir Khan recently backed out as the co-producer of the film after its director Subhash Kapoor was accused of sexual harassment by actor Geetika Tyagi. The actor's decision further led the T-Series honcho to drop Subhash from his much-awaited project.
Now even though the makers are yet to finalise the director for Mogul, we now hear that they have zeroed in on one of the female leads and it is none other than Sonakshi Sinha. A leading daily quoted a source as saying, "Sonakshi Sinha has been approached for it. The film dates back to the ’70s and ’80s and the team was looking for a heroine, who could exude that retro vibe."
Apparently, the Dabangg actress has given her verbal nod to the project but the modalities still need to be worked out. Talking about Sonakshi's role, the source added, "It’s a small, but meaningful role. Sona will only need to shoot for a few days. When she heard the script, she liked it and told Bhushan that she would do it." For now, we await an official confirmation from either Sonakshi or T-series.
Meanwhile, it is touted that Mogul will have three female characters since the film depicts Gulshan Kumar's entire life spanning over many years. "Sonakshi will play one of his girlfriends before marriage. The film is being designed on the lines of Sanju, where several A-list actors made small appearances. But among the three girls, Sona will have the most prominent part," revealed the source.
Mogul is reportedly slated to go on floors by the end of this year and will hit the screens on Christmas 2019.
