KWAN’s Anirban Blah allegedly attempts to commit suicide after #MeToo accusations, rescued by police

After being accused of sexual harassment by four anonymous women, Anirban Blah, who co-founded celebrity management company KWAN Entertainment, allegedly attempted to commit suicide near the Vashi old bridge in Navi Mumbai on October 18, a leading daily reported.

"We had information about an individual coming towards Vashi bridge to commit suicide. We couldn't take chance and we laid a trap there in dark," a senior police inspector told the daily, adding that Anirban was seen ascending the barricade of the bridge as he tried to jump off it but officials rescued him on time.

KWAN Entertainment asked Anirban to step aside from his duties and responsibilities after allegations against him surfaced, it said in a statement on Tuesday. The police officer, in fact, also told the daily that Anirban appeared severely upset and was “frustrated” with the accusations.

“He was crying. He seemed very frustrated and depressed. We took him to the police chowki. He said that he was frustrated with the #Metoo allegations on him," the police officer added.

Allegations against Anirban surfaced in the wake of the #MeToo movement that has encompassed the nation since the last month. While speaking to a leading daily, the women accused Anirban of inappropriate behaviour – one of them said that he allegedly asked her if she “would be willing to be part of an unnatural sex set-up,” after one of her successful films, as mentioned in the report.

KWAN Entertainment manages celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor and Tiger Shroff.
