Lyricist Sameer Anjaan has supported his colleague Anu Malik after singer Shweta Pandit accused the musician of sexually harassing her in 2001. In a statement issued on his verified Twitter handle, Sameer said that the allegation against Anu is “shocking and sad” as he was present during Shweta’s audition with him.
Shweta, on Twitter, claimed that Anu had told her that he would give her a song with Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan if “she gave him a kiss”. "He then smiled, what I would recall the most evil grin I've seen," Shweta said of the incident when she was 15.

Sameer, on the contrary, spoke of the incident in his post, saying that Shweta had insisted upon auditioning in another room when Anu had asked her to sing in a set-up where Sameer was also there. “Shweta requested that if she can sing in some other room but Anuji said that I want Sameerji to also hear your voice. After hearing her voice Anuji said “You have a good voice and I will definitely let you know for future projects” after that they left,” Sameer said in his post.

Anu, in the meantime, has denied the allegations made by Shweta, his lawyer Zulfiquar Memon told a news agency on his behalf.
"The allegations made against my client are emphatically denied as completely false and baseless. My client respects the #MeToo movement but to use this movement to start a character assassination mission is obnoxious," Zulfiquar Memon told the agency.
