'I'm trying very hard to avoid it': Karan Johar on keeping his kids away from the paparazzi culture

From being a director and producer to a talent show judge, host or an RJ, it would not be wrong to say that Karan Johar is one Bollywood celebrity that dons several hats and that too, with sheer ease and passion. Currently, he is all set for his popular chat show Koffee With Karan 6, which goes on air today, apart from judging the fifth season of India’s Got Talent. Now in an interview with a leading daily, Karan opened up on juggling different responsibilities, not missing spending time with his kids Yash and Roohi and hows he's trying to keep them away from the paparazzi culture.

When asked how he dabbles in several things, KJo said that he certainly feels that he's taking too much of everyone’s screen time. "Some might also feel I’m the Jack of all trades, master of none. There are two ways of looking at it. But I do everything with all my heart," he quipped. Further stating that his mother Hiroo Johar is fed up of seeing him run around like a headless chicken, he mentioned, "I enjoy this craziness. If you give me a day where I have nothing to do, I’d go mad. I don’t understand the concept of a holiday. For me, my work is my holiday."

On making sure that he does not miss spending time with his kids, Karan gave credit to his mother for being a mother-cum-grandparent-cum-obsessive-grandparent and added, "My mother and I are doing it together. My mom is in their nursery 24x7. It’s come to a point that she’s become their official nanny or nurse. I’m the supervisor who gets all the information on them. Every hour, I get an update, which can be a video or pictures of the two kids. When she’s not around and I’m there, I have to keep her posted."

Last but not the least, Karan concluded by saying he tries to keep his kids away from what they don’t deserve. When asked how he deals with the growing paparazzi culture, he maintained, "I’m trying very hard to avoid it. I was photographed only when I achieved something. Before that, nobody knew me and my father, too, wasn’t in the limelight like that. I’m trying to give them a little bit of a sense of normalcy in their existence. But unfortunately, I can only try up to a point."
