A fairy tale wedding after a filmi romance for Deepika and Ranveer

Everybody knew it was going to happen but nobody knew when the official announcement would be made. People thought Deepika Padukone would come out with the wedding plan and date while having Koffee with Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt on Star Plus’ crazily popular chat show tonight. But the demure actress and her actor beau and co-star of four films, the effervescent Ranveer Singh, came out on social media before that with the “breaking news”. And now the world and its neighbor know that Deepika and Ranveer are getting married on November 14 and 15 with the blessings of their families. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, eat your hearts out. Unless you plan on getting married earlier.

The man who must be most proud is that enfant terrible filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It was SLB’s vision that made him pitch the two powerhouse actors together in his 2013 romantic tragedy Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and give them enough time for love-making amidst the blood and fury and flying bullets in the film. Something clicked there, for sure.

For by 2015, when the eclectic SLB was ready to cast Deepika and Ranveer together again in his epic historical romance Bajirao Mastani, they were already in love. And then he kind of got them to commit to one another while making his period drama Padmaavat in 2017 and consider the option of marriage if they wanted to live happily every after.

So, from a filmi romance, it’s going to be a fairytale wedding for Deepika and Ranveer. All of Bollywood knows it will take place at the upscale resort area of Lake Como in Northern Italy’s Lombardy region. But they don’t know as yet that nobody’s invited. If you thought the Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli wedding last December in Tuscany, Central Italy, was quiet, then this one is going to be very hush-hush indeed. Nobody but the immediate family of the two are going to be there. Bollywood has been kept out.

Naturally, the paparazzi will be declared persona non grata at this function. Whatever pictures come out will be those shared by the couple. The media will have to be happy with those. And then sometime in December, around the release of Ranveer’s film Simmba, there will be a reception here in Mumbai. With band, baaja and baraat. You can take our word for it...
