Singer Alisha Chinai addressed the controversy Anu Malik has mired himself in and said that “every word” that has been spoken about the musician is true, as reported by a leading daily. Malik has been accused of sexual harassment by singers Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit, and two other women in the wake of the #MeToo movement in India.
“Every word said and written about Anu Malik is true. I stand by all the women who have finally spoken up. May they find peace and closure in their lives," Alisha was quoted as saying by the daily. Malik and Alisha collaborated frequently on several songs in the 90’s - My Adorable Darling from Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aaj Nahin To Kal from Aakhri Adaalat and Ruk Ruk Ruk from Vijaypath.

In fact, Alisha had accused Malik of molesting her as well during the release of her superhit track Made in India in 1995. Following her allegation, Alisha did not work with Malik for several years but reunited with him for a song in Shahid Kapoor’s debut film Ishq Vishk in 2003.
In the meantime, Malik, who appeared as a judge on the tenth season of the talent-based reality show Indian Idol, stepped down from the responsibility on Sunday after the accusations. In a statement issued by the musician, Malik said that he has informed the channel about taking a “break” from Indian Idol as he isn’t being able to concentrate on the show at the moment.

Last week, Shweta Pandit claimed that Malik had told her that he would give her a song with Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan if “she gave him a kiss”. “He then smiled, what I would recall the most evil grin I’ve seen,” Shweta said of the incident when she was 15. Apart from Shweta and Sona, two other women also accused Malik of sexually harassing them.
Malik, however, has denied the allegations made by Shweta.
