Neena Gupta has opened up about her journey as a single mother and described it as “very tough”, reports a leading news website. The veteran actress has a daughter, Masaba, with former West Indian cricketer Vivian Richards, with whom she was in a relationship in the 80’s – Neena didn’t marry him. Considering the fact that Neena didn’t have a husband at that point of time, the thoroughfare was considerably difficult for her.
However, Neena said that Masaba’s birth made her life beautiful, adding that her daughter was an obedient child and also didn’t bother her.

"My journey was very tough. I had no money. Money is the most important thing, I have realised in this world. I didn't have a husband and relatives. So it was really tough, but the joy Masaba gave me... The joy of motherhood... She was a very good child she did not trouble me much,” Neena said, as reported by the daily.
In 2008, Neena married New Delhi-based chartered accountant Vivek Mehra in a private ceremony in the United States.

Apart from starring in films, Neena is best known for her television shows Khandaan, Saans and Siski. She is currently basking in the glory of the success of her new film Badhaai Ho, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra. The film has earned over Rs 30 crores within four days of its release.
