From trying to carve a name for himself in the Southern film industry to becoming a household name throughout the country, Prabhas has come a long way. He is hailed as the one who changed the face of Telugu cinema post the mammoth success of Baahubali franchise. He has been eagerly lapped up by Bollywood filmmakers as well and has managed to become a household name throughout the country. As the star turns 39 today, here’s a look at his career before and after the Baahubali films.
Initial Films
Prabhas made his debut with the Telugu film Eeshwar in 2002. Following Eeshwar he did Raghavendra in 2003 which also went unnoticed and could not do much for the actor. In 2004, he starred in Varsham which brought made him a darling of the masses. The film was loosely based on the Ramayana and became a box office hit.

After Varsham Prabhas was seen in Adavi Ramudu and Chakram. In 2005, he collaborated for the first time with SS Rajamouli in the film Chatrapathi in which he portrayed the role of a refugee exploited by goons. The film had a 100 day run at 54 centres and helped him establish himself as a force to reckon with. After this, he did a couple of films that did mediocre business but his style and camera presence earned him lots of praise and accolades and filmmakers continued to sign him for their films. In the film Billa (2009) he was presented by Meher Ramesh in a totally different look which thrilled his fans and his subsequent films Darling and Mr Perfect made him a romantic hero as well.

Mirchi released in 2013 established Prabhas as a well-known face in the South Indian film industry. He also won the Nandi Award for Best Actor, for his role in Mirchi.
Advent of Baahubali

In 2015, Prabhas starred in the film Baahubali: The Beginning and made him a darling of not only the south Indian fans but of the entire nation. The cliffhanger from the filmbecame so popular that everyone wanted to know that why did Katappa kill Baahubali? The desperation to know the answer drove fans to the theatres in hordes, notwithstanding the amazing special effects and Prabhas’ strongman act also had its own fan-following. The films became a smashing hit and broke all records on the domestic and the international front.
Post Baahubali

Prabhas will soon be seen onscreen after almost a year in Saaho that also stars Shraddha Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film is trilingual and will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The makers of the film released a still from the film of Prabhas and on his birthday will be sharing a series of videos titled ‘Shades of Saaho’ which is a mix of the making and film footage for Prabhas’ fans.
Prabhas is the first south Indian actor to have his wax statue in Madame Tussaud's wax museum in Bangkok.
