Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan in the leads, has been facing one hurdle after another ever since it was announced. After the director's fallout with Prernaa Arora, the film was taken over by Ronnie Screwvala under his RSVP banner and it was announced that Kedarnath will hit the silver screens on November 30.
However, there was a buzz that the makers will push the film's release date to avoid clash with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0, which is slated to release on November 29. And now it looks like, the rumour was perhaps true as a leading daily has learnt that Kedarnath will release in March and not November.
The daily quoted a source close to the development as saying, "With Ronnie’s Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam-starrer, Uri: The Surgical Strike, slated to release in January, and Abhishek Chaubey’s daku drama, Sonchiraiya, also with Sushant, to open in February, Kedarnath has been pushed to March."
Meanwhile, the makers are yet to zero in on a specific date for its release. Not to forget, March 2019 is already packed with several big releases including Akshay Kumar's Kesari, John Abraham’s Romeo Akbar Walter and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Badla. Now we wonder which date will Abhishek pick for the release of his long-due film.
On a related note, if Kedarnath indeed releases in March then Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh, will mark the debut of Saif Ali Khan's and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara.
