Aamir Khan’s character Firangi, from his upcoming release Thugs Of Hindostan, has been compared to that of Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean ever since his look was unveiled on social media and subsequently, in the trailer. The 53-year-old actor, however, is of the opinion that though Firangi’s and Jack Sparrow’s characters are similar, director Vijay Krishna Acharya hasn’t derived his role from the Hollywood film.
“Intrinsically, they are both similar characters because dono badmaash hai (both are naughty). I personally feel and hope that when you see Firangi then you will forget Jack Sparrow. I don't think Victor wrote it based on Jack Sparrow,” Aamir was quoted as saying, reports a leading website.

In fact, Sumit Basu, production designer of Thugs Of Hindostan, also told a leading news channel that his film isn’t even remotely associated with Pirates of the Caribbean.
“It never came to our mind. Our life was much simpler, we know the period, we know the ships. We are talking about Andalusia, we know those ships and people know there are replicas of those ships floating in the water. So... I never take reference from films,” Sumit Basu told the channel.
Well, we’re sure you’ll be able to judge for yourself after watching Thugs Of Hindostan in the theatres. Co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, Thugs Of Hindostan will release on November 8.
