The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa had registered a criminal complaint against Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai for hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs through a poster of their upcoming film Zero. The complaint stated that one of the film’s posters shows SRK wearing a Gatra Kirpan as an ordinary dagger which is one of the five religious symbols of the Sikhs.
Now, the makers of the film have issued an official statement stating that they have no intention to hurt any religious sentiments. They also clarified that Shah Rukh is not wearing a Kirpan but a dagger popularly known as Katar.

The statement shared by the makers states, “The film is about celebrating incompleteness and to tell a heartfelt story. We trust you (MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa) will appreciate our stand that any concern this may have caused is completely inadvertent.”

Manjinder Singh Sirsa had shared the poster of the film on Facebook and wrote, “Shame on Shahrukh Khan on devaluing Sikh Kakaar and hurting Sikh sentiments by showing Kirpaan as a show-off ordinary dagger. Kirpaan can only be worn by a #Khalsa - a pure Human being. I demand Shahrukh Khan & Zero film producer Gauri Khan to immediately withdraw this poster #Zero. We would be forced to take legal action against Zero film team if this poster and promotion is not withdrawn.”

SRK plays a vertically challenged man in the film that also features Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead. The film is produced by Gauri Khan and is set to hit the theatres on December 21.
