Virat Kohli responds to backlash received after his “Leave India” comment

After getting severely criticized on social media for asking a cricket fan to “leave India” for liking Australian and English batsmen over Indian players, now Virat has issued a response which might be taken as a clarification and a justification for his remark. Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Virat wrote, “I guess trolling isn't for me guys, I'll stick to getting trolled! I spoke about how "these Indians" was mentioned in the comment and that's all. I'm all for freedom of choice. ?? Keep it light guys and enjoy the festive season. Love and peace to all."

The furore started on Wednesday when a fan sent a message to Virat and said, “I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indian." The fan wasn’t too appreciative of Virat’s batting either and also said, “Over-rated batsman. Personally, I see nothing special in his batting."

These brickbats did not go down too well with Virat who is one of the best batsmen in the world currently. He told the fan, “I don't think you should live in India, go and live somewhere else. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don't mind you not liking me, but I don't think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right."

Kohli is currently on a break from cricket and will soon start India’s tour of Australia from November 21.
