Ali Abbas Zafar is all set for his upcoming film, a period-drama titled Bharat starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The cast and crew has already completed 75 per cent of the film during extensive shoots in Malta and Abu Dhabi. As several reports suggested earlier, the team will now be wrapping up the film with three small schedules — in Punjab, Delhi and Mumbai.
Interestingly, the Bharat team has built a gigantic set of Wagah border in Ludhiana during the Punjab schedule of the film. A leading daily quoted a source from the team as saying, "The film will span across seven decades and will also capture the evolution of India, along with its main leading character (played by Salman). The team had to film a few portions at the Wagah border, but it wasn’t feasible for security reasons."
“Producer Atul Agnihotri and Ali have envisioned the film in a certain way and they are making sure it looks like a visual extravaganza," added the source. Apparently, Salman and Katrina will be shooting at the set for the next eight days, starting today.
What's more, the lead actors will be joined by Jackie Shroff in the latest schedule, during which the Partition scenes will be shot. Talking about it, Ali had earlier confirmed to a daily that "lengthy sequences set against the backdrop of the Partition and refugee camps from those traumatic times will be recreated in Punjab."
Also starring Sunil Grover, Tabu, Disha Patani and Aasif Sheikh, Bharat is slated to release on Eid 2019.
