Bollywood actor Govinda found himself under the line of fire when Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ordered 20 cuts in his upcoming film Rangeela Raja, directed by former CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani. Now during a recent press conference, Govinda alleged that there are people in the industry who do not want his films to release, further claiming that his films are being targeted for last nine years.
Talking about it, Govinda said, "Nine years back, I started realizing that my films, which could have been hits, would not release. And if they did, then they were not released properly. I didn’t know there are people who don’t want my films to release." He added, "There definitely is some conspiracy behind not letting me work and showcase my work, for sure. But I will not give up. I will continue working hard.”

Citing the example of his last film Fryday which released a few weeks ago, the actor also stated, "My film FryDay was released and it got a 3.5 stars rating. Everybody appreciated the film, but it never got enough screens. Reasons cited for this was 'Govinda’s films cannot be good enough to pull a decent crowd, how can we give him screens?' But now, Pahlaj Nihalani’s film didn’t even get a date at the censor board. This is something to think about."
For the unversed, Nihalani has also moved to Bombay High Court to seek justice against the decision of CBFC to cut "harmless footage and dialogues", suggesting that he "is being treated as an enemy by the staff".
Rangeela Raja features Govinda in a double role and is slated to release on November 16.
