Akshay Kumar has landed himself in a soup which is not of his doing. He recently released the first look of his upcoming film Kesari that is based on the Battle of Saragarhi where he is playing the role of a Sikh warrior, Havildar Ishar Singh. Akshay was summoned along with former CM Parkash Singh Badal and former Deputy CM, Sukhbir Singh Badal by the Punjab Government in the Punjab Sacrilege case that took place in 2015.
However, Akshay refuted all such allegations and issued a clarification stating that he has never met Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in his life. He also mentioned that he came to know through social media that the self-proclaimed godman had stayed in his locality but he never met him. Akshay said that he had the highest amount of respect for Punjabi culture and hence will never willingly undermine it.

In his statement, he wrote, “I shall never do anything that would even remotely hurt the sentiments of my Punjabi brothers and sisters, for whom I have utmost respect and love.” Apparently, it was believed by the investigative team that Akshay played the mediator between Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal and Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh during the sacrilege case that took place in 2015. However, with this statement, the actor has put forth his side of the story. The actor has been summoned to appear before SIT (Special Investigations Team) on November 21.
