The Bombay High Court has scheduled November 30 as the day for hearing the petition filed against actor Shah Rukh Khan and the makers of his film Zero claiming that the film’s trailer and poster hurt religious sentiments of the Sikh community. BJP MLA and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa had filed a police complaint against the actor and the makers of the film. However, he accepted the makers' quick response when they issued a clarification on the same.
But earlier this month, Amritpal Singh Khalsa, an advocate, had filed a petition seeking a direction from director Aanand L Rai and the producers of the film to delete the scenes where Shah Rukh is seen wearing a ‘kirpan’ (a small dagger carried by Sikhs which is one of the five tenets of Khalsa).

The petition also requested the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to not issue a certification to the film and if already given then to revoke it. The petition was presented by Khalsa before a division bench of Justices BP Dharmadhikari and SV Kotwal who decided to schedule it for hearing on November 30.
The film’s producers had already issued a clarification that in the said scene SRK is not wearing a ‘kirpaan’ but rather a ‘katar’ and is nowhere close to a kirpan. Advocate Khalsa took exception to the scene as a ‘kirpan’ is worn by a Sikh only after taking 'rehat maryada' (conversion to Sikhism).
Zero also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The film is all set to release on December 21.
