It is no secret that Karan Johar and Twinkle Khanna share a strong bond of friendship and their camaraderie off screen is a delight to witness. In fact, the filmmaker had wanted the actor-turned-author in the role of Tina for his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Although she denied the role which eventually went into Rani Mukerji's kitty, Karan recently had the chance to direct Twinkle for a commercial, also featuring her husband Akshay Kumar.
Talking about it, KJo revealed that Twinkle's candidness and honesty in real life makes her a director's delight. "Tina is as candid in front of the camera as she is in real life and that honesty makes her connect with the audience. I've always wanted to work with her since my directorial debut. It's a happy coincidence that I got to direct Tina around the same time that we celebrated 20 years of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," Karan told a leading daily.
What's more, the advertisement which was shot at Mehboob Studio, marks Karan's first directorial collaboration with Akshay as well.
On the other hand, Twinkle seemed excited to reunite with her husband for shoot of the rice brand, owing his culinary skills. Talking about it, she said, "Our kitchen is more Akshay's domain than mine. He likes cooking and I like eating, so it's a good equation."
