Amrita Singh’s notion of her contemporary Sridevi, as revealed by Sara Ali Khan

Healthy competition is fine, Sara Ali Khan asserted during an interview with a leading daily while she was asked about comparisons with her contemporary Janhvi Kapoor. While Janhvi made her debut with Dhadak in July, Sara’s first film Kedarnath will release in December – in the midst of which, several webloids ended up comparing the young stars. Sara and Janhvi, however, are unfazed with such propositions as their association exist beyond the movies and they are good friends.

Speaking of Sara’s and Janhvi’s association, it shouldn’t be surprising to note that their respective mothers – Amrita Singh and Sridevi – were contemporaries as well. During the interview, Sara, in fact, said her mother reiterates that Sridevi was an A-list star during her generation while the rest were pretty much ‘mediocre.’

“My mother still says that. She does tell me, ‘In my generation, there was Sridevi from No 1 to No 10 and everyone else came after that.’ And truth be told, I’ve known Janhvi even before we thought of getting into movies. I think a little healthy competition every now and then is fine,” Sara said during the interview.

Amrita Singh appeared in the films Betaab, Aaina, Saaheb and Khudgarz. Sridevi, star of films, Sadma, Mr. India, Chandni, Lamhe, Judaai, English Vinglish and Mom, died in Dubai on February 24.

Meanwhile, Sara has been cast opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Kedarnath. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kedarnath is scheduled to release on December 7.

Apart from Kedarnath, Sara will also appear in Ranveer Singh’s Simmba, which will release in December as well.
