After wowing the audience with his stellar performance in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor will soon begin shooting for Karan Malhotra’s dream project Shamshera, which goes on floors tomorrow on December 1. Although we can't wait for Brahmastra to release, the audience is really looking forward to see Ranbir in an entirely transformed avatar, as a dacoit.
What's more, fighting Ranbir through the conflicts of the film will be Sanjay Dutt, who plays the antagonist. Apart from him, we will see Vaani Kapoor playing the character of the most desirable and sought-after travelling performer of the country, who happens to be Ranbir's love interest as well. Now with the first schedule of the film slated to begin tomorrow, Ranbir and Vaani participated in the muhurat puja today, a custom that Yash Raj Films, follows before any film of the production house goes on floors.

Talking about the film, Ranbir told a leading news agency, “Shamshera is not a story of a 'daaku', but a film based in the 1800s, it is about a dacoit tribe who are fighting for their right and independence from the British. There was a great story of heroism, a story rooted in our country which actually happened back then. It is a departure from the kind of films I have done, it is not the coming-of-age lover boy roles which I have done often. Shamshera is in the aspirational space, the space of true, bada** commercial cinema."
