Filmmaker Aanand L Rai is all gung-ho about the upcoming release of his film Zero that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The director is well-known for coming up with films that are relatable and rooted in reality. The director has found a perfect balance between art and commercial cinema with entertainment at its core. Now, in an interview given to a leading tabloid the filmmaker reveals that although he had approached Salman Khan first for the role he never told him the entire story.
Recently, reports surfaced stating that Salman was the first choice for the film’s main lead which eventually went to Shah Rukh. Talking about the same during the interview, Aanand said, “I had the idea of Zero before Tanu Weds Manu Returns. As a director, when you achieve something, you get the opportunity to meet a lot of stars with whom you want to work. But I only discussed the idea with Salman, not the story because once we locked that, it had Shah Rukh Khan written all over it.”

Talking about Salman’s cameo in the film Zero Aanand said, “It’s Salman’s greatness that he agreed to doing a cameo. Both the Khans have big hearts, they look at the larger picture and it was fantastic to have them in the same frame. Apart from Salman, there are a lot of other cameos in the film. And all their appearances in the film happen organically, not for any gimmicks.”
