The craze behind Priyanka Chopra marrying American singer Nick Jonas is immense so much so that vernacular newspaper headlines and otherwise, are referring to him as, “National Jiju”, international website Vogue said in a report. Jiju, in Hindi, translates to brother-in-law or sister’s husband and needless to mention, India has been pretty much excited about ‘National Jiju’ so to speak.
Priyanka will marry Nick in a private ceremony at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur on December 2 and arrived in Mumbai earlier this week. He was spotted at a suburban restaurant in the city with Priyanka and the waiting crowd and paparazzi outside the eatery could also be heard referring to him as ‘jiju.’

In fact, Nick’s fan from New Delhi met him after the singer’s workout session in Juhu and called him jiju and guess what? He also managed to get a picture with him.

New Jersey-based Nick, in fact, has accustomed himself to traditional Hindu customs as well and during his roka in Mumbai on August 18, said prayers in Sanskrit, as confessed by Priyanka during an interview with international website People. “The prayers are in Sanskrit. Even I can’t say them. But he did it in Sanskrit. The Indians were so impressed with their National Jiju,” Priyanka told People.
India, thus, loves Nick as much as he loves the country. Ever since his roka, Nick has been making frequent visits to Mumbai and Priyanka, thus, told international channel Extra TV in October that India is her fiance’s “other home.”

“By trip three, he was fine. When I was doing my meetings, he was meeting friends, he was going out. He’s fine now. Now, it’s his other home,” Priyanka had said.
Cut to the shaadi. As far as pre-wedding festivities are concerned, mehendi and sangeet ceremonies were reportedly held on November 29 while the traditional Hindu wedding will be held on December 2 followed by a Christian wedding, the next day.
Reports suggest that Priyanka and Nick will host a reception in New Delhi after their wedding at a posh hotel while a party will also be held for her friends and colleagues from the film fraternity in Mumbai soon after.
