Bareilly residents decorate Priyanka Chopra's 'neglected' ancestral home as she weds Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas officially became man and wife on Saturday as they exchanged wedding vows in a Christian ceremony at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur with only family and close friends in attendance. The couple later got married in another ceremony, as per Hindu traditions, on December 3 after a whirlwind of ceremonies including mehendi, sangeet and haldi.

Despite NickYanka's wedding creating a huge hype across the country, Priyanka's ancestral home in Bareilly stood in a state of sheer neglect and showed no signs of celebrations till Friday evening. However, soon after news of Priyanka's and Nick's marriage caught like wildfire, a few locals got in touch with the caretaker of the house, Parmeshwar Rai Pandey, to decorate it and also celebrated the occasion with sweets and fireworks.

But since the caretaker lives there alone, he couldn’t manage the decoration on his own and thus, members of the Radheyshyam Smriti Samaroh Ayojan Samiti, a social group, came forward to help him. Talking about it, Parmeshwar told a leading news agency, "Despite not getting any invitation of their bitiyaa’s marriage, people of the city illuminated their houses with fairy lights and distributed sweets to celebrate the moment on Saturday."

Praising the people who came forward to celebrate the momentous occassion, he further told a website, "The family is quite busy in the wedding and they might have forgotten to give attention to this house. The people of Bareilly, along with the district administration have showered love on their daughter by coming together and decorating the house."

In fact, hearing all this, Priyanka's mother Madhu Chopra informed the news agency, "Through caretaker Parameshwar Pandey, I came to know that people in Bareilly are celebrating Priyanka's marriage, and I am proud of the residents."

Isn't that just heartwarming?

For the unversed, Priyanka and Nick got engaged in a roka ceremony on August 18.
